El Pastore is hands down one of my favorite breakfast spots in the Anchorage area. While most people default to Snow City Cafe when asked about great breakfast places, I’d put El Pastore right at number two—if not tied for first. This cozy little Mexican restaurant, tucked away in a small-town vibe setting, is the kind of place you just fall in love with. They serve breakfast until 2 PM, and the food is consistently fantastic. I’ve been coming here for years and have tried so many different dishes—everything has been delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is warm and great for conversation, and the prices are very reasonable. One of the things I love most is the ability to customize the spice level—just add some of their hot sauce if you want to kick it up a notch. Absolutely a five out of five spot, 100% worth checking out if you haven’t already!

The halibut tacos were fresh and phenomenal. They have a nice sauce bar to mix it up. The pancakes were super light and fluffy-delicious.

Amazing breakfast. Huevos rancheros (eggs on separate plate) with chorizo was the best huevos I’ve tried in AK. Husband ordered the Birria hash. Will be back for sure.

Okay. We need to talk about, El Pastor. I’ve missed REAL Mexican food for a while. My hometown is 90% Mexican and I love our food. This place reminded me of home. I appreciate the quality of chicken in my enchiladas. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had chewy chicken. The chicken was delicious and moist. A few improvements though. La horchata falta canela

So good, went two days in a row. Second trip, didnt take photos except for my kiddo dressed as a shark. I highly recommend the chimichanga--it is enormous. I also highly recommend carnitas for the meat. Yum! Craving the chips and salsa now.

Pleasantly surprised at the quality and flavor of the food. The chips and salsa were great, homemade chips and a salsa with a little kick. The enchiladas were in a tasty mole like sauce. Would come back again, especially compared to the other in town options.
